MEDIA RELATIONS

Media relations entails managing your message in the news media and developing relationships with reporters and editors from print, television, and radio outlets—relationships that greatly increase the odds your story will be told accurately, fairly, and responsibly.

Here's what Fuel Communications can do for you:

Earned Media Planning
We'll help you develop an earned media plan to deliver your organization's messages in the most effective manner. This planning includes determining the best way to place your message — when and where it will do the most good—in print or on television or radio.

Story Placement
A prominent news editor was quoted as saying, “If it bleeds, it leads.” In other words, a story must have news value. News that may seem important to your company may only draw a yawn when it reaches the editor's desk. Fuel's job is to find the news value in events that involve your company and to make the story available to local media in a form that interests them.

Fuel writes news releases, feature stories, opinion-editorial pieces, and other editorial content for placement with local and national print media, syndicates, wire services, and specialized trade and industry publications. We also pitch story ideas to writers and editors and provide them with the background materials they need to write the stories themselves. Then we follow up with our media contacts to improve the odds of placement.

Broadcast Media
Fuel works with broadcast news directors, business editors, and producers to generate coverage of your organization on television and radio. Coverage may include live interviews of key people in your business, coverage of newsworthy events, or use of video footage prepared by Fuel for their use.

News Conferences
When your company has significant news to announce, we organize a press conference and work to ensure that local media are in attendance. We also produce briefing materials—news releases, fact sheets, media kits, and materials for your spokespeople.

Media Training
We offer hands-on, personalized training for your spokespeople to optimize their performance during an interview. We not only show clients how to conduct a news conference, but we enhance their verbal delivery skills and teach them how to remain poised when dealing with the media
